Zeche Zollverein Unesco Weltkulturerbe

Orientation system with blind keying model

The former superlative coal mine and Unesco World Heritage site Zeche Zollverein invited tenders from all over Europe to design its park. Teams of landscape architects, artists, lighting and communication designers were supposed to come up with a convincing concept.

Our winning design is a wayfinding system that is especially suitable for this unique site. The challenge of the wayfinding is to answer the needs of 500,000 visitors a year while at the same time cope with the strict regulations of the monument conservation.

Our conceptual approach is: quantitatively quiet - qualitatively loud.
